The following details have been received from Tim:
I have arranged the visit on Saturday 25th September.
1000 meet RSPB Otmoor Car Park - Satnav Postcode OX3 9UX takes you to Otmoor Lane then continue down land to RSPB car park.
We will visit the three hides with a round trip of about 2 miles.
Birds expected: lots of duck, Little Egret, Red Kite, possible Marsh and Hen Harrier, Buzzard, Merlin, Bittern, Bearded Reedling, assorted waders, Stonechat, Whinchat, Spoonbill, Water Rail, Kingfisher etc
1230 depart for lunch
1245 arrive Trout Inn Wolvercote on the Thames (famous for its use in “Morse”). I will contact those intending to come with menu details.
1400 Arrive Farmoor Reservoir car park. Walk across causeway to Pinkhill NR hide.
Birds expected: lots of gulls and waders with very often a rarity, Heron, Yellow, Pied & Grey Wagtail, grebes, terns etc. Round trip of about 1.5 miles.
1600 depart
Otmoor can be muddy but they have hardened the paths so walking shoes should be sufficient Farmoor is mostly on tarmac.
Returns to Tim please (see http://www.aos-uk.com/expeditionsforthcoming.html).
Tim has sent the details out by email which includes maps. Members who have not received the email but would like a copy please contact via this site. |
