FAIR ISLE RECCE 11-20 OCT 10 & FAIR ISLE IN 2011/2012

Chris Sandbach and I will be going to Fair Isle this autumn on a recce for a possible future society trip. Actual stay on Fair Isle will be 12-19 Oct 10, allowing a day to travel to Aberdeen and back at beginning and end of the trip.

Depending on numbers and locations we would look to maximise car and room sharing. Full board at the Fair Isle Observatory is £350 for the week on a twin sharing basis, £490 on a single occupancy of a twin room in the brand new observatory. There are no singles available. Add to this the flight/ferries/buses the trip should cost under £500, excluding your costs to Aberdeen.

If you are interested in joining us on the recce then come back to me IMMEDIATELY, accommodation is tight.

If you would be interested in going on a future autumn trip in 2011 or 2012 then please indicate, including a preference.

Andy Harrison has expressed an interest in coming to Fair Isle. I would like to try and get pairs if possible, to keep the individual costs to a minimum. If there is anyone else who would like to visit then please contact me by PM or reply to this blog as soon as possible, so that I can secure ferries and transport.

Andy Harrison, Chris Sandbach and I are booked into the Fair Isle Observatory. Cost from Aberdeen and back, including ferries, buses and full board accn all in at under £425.

There is a spare bed at the moment and providing we book quickly I would hope to get a fourth person on to the Shetland to Fair Isle ferry; there are only 12 seats!

If you are interested in going this year or in 2011 or 2012 then please let me know because at the moment the silence is deafening and this could become the trip rather than the recce.
